Lloydesign is an exciting new British company that produces contemporary and innovative furniture. Some of the pieces facilitate colour changing LED lighting in an elegant and stylish manner.
Alumina is a coffee table that is functional and meditative; one gets totally absorbed in its quiet beauty. The table comes with a neat remote control that enables the lights to phase slowly through the colour spectrum or become fixed on one particular colour. Using finest materials and craftsmanship throughout, Alumina really becomes the crowning jewel of any living room or reception area. The glass top is made from 19mm toughened opticlear-not float glass and the base is solid (not veneered) hardwood.
Lloydesign has shown Alumina with a spray of bamboo sandblasted on the underside of the glass top, but it can be anything you wish, from trees or flowers, to a verse or a familiar quotation. This is of particular interest to the corporate market where a logo can be incorporated.
Even the pieces that do not use light in an explicit way, such as LED’s, use light, or the absence of it in their design, such as the sand blasted Bamboo which projects a shadow to the shelf below. Another use of ground breaking technology that Lloydesign make use of is water jet cutting. This technique is able to cut completely though thick glass, forming a desired pattern. Mezera is one such design but it could be anything.
As much as possible there is emphasis on sustainability of materials and ecological considerations, from the sourcing of hardwoods to the water based lacquered finish. The environmental benefits of LED’s have been well documented, using as little as 10% the energy of conventional lighting and without the mercury waste to contend with.
Lloydesign can provide standard or bespoke pieces in any size and selection of different timbers. All of the pieces have various applications from occasional tables to coffee tables, dining tables, reception and board room tables. Some of their pieces are limited editions for which they will provide certification.
Lloyd Design provides consultation through every stage of the design process to ensure you are getting exactly what you want. You, the customer can become involved in the design process as much or as little as you like.
